  • what is rax?
    Being fashionable shouldn't be about buying a trendy item and wearing it once - it should be an investment you make money back on. Meet fashion rental. rax is an app reimagining the fashion industry where you can make money lending out your wardrobe and save money borrowing other people's closet.
  • what are the fees for using rax?
    rax is completely free to use. We just take a 20% commission from lenders on items they lend out.
  • who is responsible for cleaning the item?
    We ask that lenders clean their items to avoid accidental damages that often occur in the wash. This way, you have full control over how your item is cleaned.
  • how do I get help from rax or raise a ticket?
    Go to the “chat” section of the app and send a message to rax .
  • how do I list an item?
    to list, click the + sign at the bottom of the rax app select the item type, brand, size, colour, description add high quality images of you wearing the item set your pricing begin lending!
  • how do I price my items?
    This is up to the lender’s discretion. The app will automatically recommend a borrow price that is 80% of the value of the item. For longer borrow periods, the app will automatically raise the price.
  • what photos should I upload?
    We recommend uploading photos/videos of the item on so borrowers can see what it looks like. Higher quality photos means a higher chance of your time getting borrowed!
  • can I cancel a lend?
    Please reach out to rax in the chat section of the app.
  • what if I don't receive my item back?
    In the rare event the borrower does not give the item back (this has never happened before!) they will be charged the full cost of the item which will be refunded to the lender.
  • how do I keep track of my upcoming lends?
    Go to the "my lends" section under settings.
  • how do I get paid for lending out an item?
    - Click "my closet" - Click "settings" - Click "payouts" - Fill out your banking information in the my to receive a direct deposit into your account (within 8 days depending on your bank) once you receive the item back from the borrower. We partner with Stripe to ensure all payments are processed quickly and securely.
  • what if I want to wear my item or am going on vacation & won't be able to send out items?
    Simply click the edit icon on your item on your profile and click the dates you'd like the item to be unavailable for in the calendar section. Alternatively, pause your account under the settings section of the app.
  • i’m borrowing an item for an event, how do I know it will come in time? can I reserve an item for an event that is months away?
    If you are borrowing an item for a specific date, choose your event date in the app. If you are doing local in-person pick-up, you will pick-up the item on day 1 and return on the last day of your rental period. If you are doing shipping, choose the borrow period of 10 days with the event date being on day 8. Your lender will ship out the item on day 1 and it will arrive on day 1 - 7. wear your item on day 8 and ship it back on day 9 or 10. if you need a longer period, simply adjust the borrow period. You may reserve your item at any time in the app - the earlier the better to ensure the item is free. you will not receive the item or you will not meet in person until day 1 of your borrow period.
  • i'm borrowing items for a vacation, what borrow period should I choose?
    Choose a borrow period from 4 days (if local pick-up only), 10 days, 20 days, 1 month, 2 months, 3 months, 6 months. If doing local pick up, you will receive your item on day 1 and return on the last day of your borrow period. If doing shipping, your lender will ship your item on day 1 to arrive within day 1-7 and you will ship back on the last day of your borrow period. simply adjust the borrow period for what time frame works best for you!
  • how long can I borrow an item for/how do I book?
    Click the borrow button of the item you'd like to borrow on the app. You can borrow an item for 4 days (if local pick-up only), 10 days, 20 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months.
  • how do I change my payment information?
    This can be done under “my payouts” in the settings section of the app.
  • can I cancel a borrow?
    Please reach out to rax in the chat section of the app.
  • what if it doesn’t fit or I don’t like the item?
    When ordering an item online there is always a risk. Return within 24 hours of receiving the item for a full refund (less shipping costs) to use as a credit in the app. Items not shipped back within 24 hours will be charged the full rental price. Within 24 hours of receiving the item, please contact rax and the lender that you are sending it back. Items cannot be altered.
  • what if I accidentally ruin the item?
    Please treat all items with care — as if you were borrowing from a friend or family member. Opt-in for insurance at the time of borrowing which will cover minor wear and tear to the item. If you do not opt-in for insurance, you are liable for 100% of the full cost of the item.
  • how do I keep track of my borrow requests?
    Go to the "my borrows" section under settings.
  • how do I message lenders?
    one of the great features of rax is being able to communicate with the lender on fit or other details of the item. please click chat on the lenders profile to get in contact.
  • i'd like to borrow an item last minute, how does this work?
    If you are doing local-pick up, you may book your item 2 days in advance. This will give the lender enough time to get your item ready. For shipping, ensure your start date is at least 7 days in advance of your event date so it arrives in time. We suggest choosing the 10 day borrow period so the item is shipped out on day 1, arrives between day 1-7, your event date is on day 8 or 9 and you ship it back on day 10.
  • what wear condition can I expect my borrows to be in?
    All items listed by users must be in great condition and freshly washed before the borrow period. As a reminder, these items are pre-worn so there may be minor imperfections if listed by the lender in the description.
